Just started reading a book by N.T. Wright called
Jesus and the Victory of God in which he discusses why people don't go to church. Wright then quotes Maxtone Graham: "Part of the reason is simply a lack of belief that the death of Christ was the turning point of history...It all seems less and less likely to be true, the more you discover about those maniacs in the first century who were expecting a Messiah and getting ready for the end of the world."
Wright then says: "Unless someone can at least address this question, one might as well give up and go home...What you say about Jesus affects your entire worldview. If you see Jesus differently, everything changes. Turn this small rudder, and the whole ship will change tack. To put it bluntly: What if the maniacs turned out to be right?"
For some reason, in this instance, I don't mind being included with those maniacs.
