Quote That Explains SOOOO Much

"The teaching that we are fundamentally sinners leads to failure. I believe that most Christians have little understanding of their identity in Christ, which results in a great deal of frustration and superficial Christian living."--James Bryan Smith

I've always said that if I were going to write a book that helped teenagers grow in their faith, a major section would be on identity in Christ. Followed soon by the exchanged life and a firm understanding on Law & Grace.

Nice to have that belief underscored on occasion.

It is not socialy aceptable even at CBC to profess that you beleive your self to be more the child of the MOST HIGH than the sinner saved by grace. The Church in general knows we are to be dead to sin, but we tend to go with God's mercy rather than His grace as a veiw of how we live. Try to express the concept that you live apart from from sin and see how quickly you are admonished as a sinner saved only by God's grace and mercy. The problem is that they are both true and Biblical statments. We have the choice to live our lives in constant fear of the sin we are capable of, or with the hope of the perfection that our God is working in us. While I chose to live by the hope, I have found that it is best not to express that in the Sunday school discussion except to get a good argument going.
