Floored

My smokin' hot shutterbug trophy wife came rolling in at around 9:45PM with the news that the election was over. I'd already avoided the media for the day and figured there could be little harm in ending my self-imposed media blackout by listening to the candidates' speeches and go to bed.

I checked in on Facebook...and have already been in conversation today with several members of my Tribe (I have a men's Bible study I lead in a locale where other folks get together for prayer & study) and frankly, I'm floored by what I'm hearing. It sound like they've all been listening to the same political rhetoric and spewing vitrolic hyperbole. There was even a lovely comment posted a little after midnight right here in The Diner.

Tribe, listen.

You may not like the choice. But it was representative democracy in action. Power changed hands and not one shot was fired. A college kid voting for the first time and a 106-year-old lady voting for the first time all had a say in the choice. In case you haven't noticed, this happens pretty much every four years.

And, let's listen to a little more reality, from the front page of today's Dallas Morning News: "From his first day in the White House, the new president will find himself as the country's crisis manager--facing the fierce urgency of huge expectations."

So, Tribe, the issue is do you trust God or trust government.

Please take the time to read 1 Timothy 2: 1 & 2. Read before and after to get context if you want. But go really slow when you get there.

And, then take the time to read Colossians 4:5 & 6. Read before and after to get context if you want. But go really slow when you get there.

Then act accordingly.

Sheesh.
