If your dentist's assistant believes they can remove the temporary crown & adhesive without using local anesthetic, make the suggestion that they go ahead an numb you.

I gave it the old college try.

I wasn't up to the task.

I'm just saying that it's worth the two hours of discomfort while awaiting the numbness to subside than risk that metal hook thing getting close to dental nerves.
